And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand…
I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD.
In the OT the giving of Land to the Israelites was for the purpose of Mission. They would inhabit the land, grow in number, and be a people that were different from the outside world that surrounded them. Other nations would say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them…?”
God will then promise to dwell among them and to be their God. In the NT, the dwelling presence of God is found in the gift of the Holy Spirit given to believers so they they may show the wisdom of God to other people. We believe that we have all been given our own “Land” or areas of influence so that we may demonstrate to others the work of the Lord in our community. We also believe that our individual and corporate areas of influence serve as a way for us examine ourselves and our level of faithfulness and commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ and the expanding of His Kingdom.
